Just Naturals & Co. :: Important Information on Toxins

Important Information on Toxins
- Air quality inside your home is 2-5 times (and in some cases up to 200 times) more polluted than the air outdoors.

- Relative to size, children breathe more air, ingest more food and drink more water that adults. Pure air, food and water are essential for their healthy development.

- A neurotoxic substance is any substance that adversely affects the structural or functional components of the central nervous system. Neurotoxic substances may be particularly harmful to the developing brains of children.

- Toxins store in your fat cells and build up over time. Your body was not designed to eliminate them.

- The majority of the chemicals used on our fruits and vegetables are water insoluble and therefore water alone will not remove the contaminants.

- Some facts about anti-bacterial products 1) improper use of the product by not washing long enough does not eliminate the bacteria; instead the surviving bacteria can mutate, become resistant to antibiotics and create super-germs. The Centers for Disease Control strongly recommends that use of anti-bacterial cleaning products for the home, be discontinued. 2) Use of anti-bacterial products eliminates good bacteria as well. 3) These products have a negative effect on bacteria levels in septic systems as well as causing problems in the environment where good bacteria are needed. 4) For infants, exposure to bacteria is essential for the immune system development.

- Essential oils are used in fragrances in all the scented products that I sell. Essential oils are 100% natural and are derived directly from the plant itself. Essential oils are the basis of aromatherapy, which is a concrete science. Due to their general makeup, most essential oils are highly antiseptic and able to naturally kill an assortment of harmful microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and mold. Essential oils are complex compounds and as a result, can’t become resistant to bacteria like chemicals can and do. The palm wax oil candles, foaming hand soaps, bar soaps, room deodorizer, and germ spray that I sell are all made with pure essential oils.

- Ammonia is damaging to the lungs, skin and eyes.

- Most commercial dishwasher detergents contain some bleach. When mixed with hot water, they emit toxic vapors in the steam, yet dishwashers run every day with children standing nearby..

- Fabric softeners contain petrochemicals. These chemicals can adversely affect the central nervous system – your brain and spine.

- Most household and commercially purchased cleaning products are petro-chemically derived or “synthetic”. These products are literally made form crude petroleum oil.

- Artificial fragrances and perfumes are all petroleum-based and are in most household products and scented candles on the market today. These synthetic fragrances do not degrade in the environment. They are the most frequent cause of allergies and often cause skin and eye irritation. Artificial fragrances are toxic for aquatic life and animals.

- Carpet and upholstery shampoos contain substances that can damage the nerves, liver and kidneys

- The number 1 cause of household poisonings is dish detergent! Read the label, it says “harmful if swallowed”…residue of the detergent is left behind each time we wash with it…so guess what we’re swallowing each time we eat. Usually contains ammonia, ethanol, formaldehyde and glycol ethers.

- Did you know that the most cancerous ingredients in cleaning products do not ever need to be disclosed? This is because the chemical companies are protected with “trade secrets”.

- Disinfectants are usually phenol cresol based and deactivate sensory nerve endings. They attack the liver, kidneys, spleen, pancreas and the central nervous system and it takes over 1 year to eliminate the unhealthy effects of spraying 2 ounces, even with heavy cross ventilation.

- If every household in the US replaced just one 28 ounce bottle of petrol-based cleaner with a bio-based cleaner, we could save 118.700 barrels of oil in 1 year! (Petrochemical fumes are breathed in and toxic residues are absorbed into your skin daily).

- Air fresheners interfere with your ability to smell by releasing nerve-deadening agents or coating nasal passages with an oil film, usually methoxychlor, a pesticide-type. That accumulates in your fat cells and over stimulates the Central Nervous System. Laundry dryer sheets fall into this category. They are extremely toxic. Avoid them.

- Liquid fabric softeners contain formaldehyde and artificial fragrances that are designed to linger all day causing continual exposure to potentially harmful chemical ingredients. Fumes can cause dizziness, headaches, nausea, labored breathing.

- All-purpose cleaners/degreasers contain either ammonia, 2-butoxy ethanol, petrochemical and/or phenol. These types of products may act as a mucous membrane or lung irritant. Direct contact or vapor inhalation may cause eye damage. Lingering fumes may cause weakness and dizziness. Overexposure to key ingredients is linked to cancer; kidney and liver damage; and reproductive disorders.

- Cosmetics are the number 2 poisoner of small children. Many varieties contain formaldehyde as a preservative. It is advised to use extreme caution during and after application.

- Furniture polishes contain nitrobenzene, naphtha, phenol and petroleum distillates. May be absorbed during inhalation and through the skin. May bind with blood to reduce oxygen availability. Direct contact with skin may dissolve vital skin oils and cause dermatitis or skin burns. Direct contact may permanently injure eye. Chronic inhalation may cause liver damage.

- Laundry detergent usually contains ethanol and triethylene glycol. Undiluted, concentrated product directly contacting with skin may cause irritation. In concentration, strong eye irritant and prolonged exposure may cause permanent eye damage. Fumes may cause chronic lung irritation.

- Toilet bowl cleaners typically contain highly corrosive acids, especially hydrochloric acids. Direct contact may burn the skin, mouth and throat. Direct contact with eyes may cause permanent blindness. Prolonged inhalation of fumes may induce asthma-like conditions and interfere with brain function.

- Window cleaners contain ammonia, butoxy ethanol and ethyl alcohol. May be irritating to lungs and eyes. Prolonged exposure is linked to bone marrow damage; kidney damage; liver damage; pregnancy problems and reproductive disorders.

- Flea collars are “pesticides” and are toxic for the pet by releasing a continuous supply of dangerous substances into the bloodstream of your pet. In addition to the great harm caused to your pet, it is absorbed through yours and your child’s skin every time the pet is touched
